DescriptionThis document outlines the history and visit log of the ship James Craig (formerly Clan Macleod), from its active service, sinking and restoration. The James Craig traded to New Zealand for over 40 years and was owned in New Zealand for 11 years, flying under the NZ flag. She first came to NZ under the name Clan Macleod in 1877. From 1888 to 1900 Clan Macleod became a regular trader in the trans-Tasman sea trade, including picking up timber from Whangārei. In 1900 the Clan Macleod was purchased by Joseph James Craig of Auckland. In 1905 the name was changed to James Craig.
