DescriptionLogs teeter at the edge of the top of Wairua Falls near Titoki, 25 kilometres west of Whangarei.
In the late 1800s and early 1900s, kauri and other logs were transported by river to mills further downstream via the Wairoa River to the Kaipara Harbour.
In 1916 a power station was built below the falls to supply electricity to the Portland Cement Works.
